Striving for Great Heights - Maunga Teitei

Our Aim: To Develop REAL Learners with CARE Values

Principal's Welcome

Nau Mai Haere Mai

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini.

It’s not the work of the individual that creates success, but the work of the team.

Located in the heart of the Kaipara (approximately 45 minutes south of Whangarei), our school offers quality education to children from Year 1 to 6, and is an integral part of the Maungatūroto community. We extend a very warm welcome to our present and prospective parents and caregivers.

At Maungaturoto Primary School we have a team of high quality staff committed to providing a first class education for children from Years 1 – 6. We strive to be an inclusive community and warmly welcome parents and whanau to share the ‘learning journey’ with teachers and students. The sense of whanau and community is at the centre of our focus on partnership in seeking excellence for our children. We are an inclusive school and we welcome ALL families and children to our school.

Maungatūroto Primary School offers small class sizes, plenty of teacher one on one time, Kapahaka, sporting opportunities and a positive caring environment. We have state of the art newly renovated and well resourced learning environments that promote and support 21st century learning. The school presently has ten classes. With a talented and experienced teaching team of 10 full-time teachers and a group of outstanding support staff, who together provide students with the best possible education to meet the needs of an ever changing world.

I am very proud to share in the learning with our team of talented and committed teachers, support staff, and whanau as we strive to provide meaningful and enriching learning opportunities for our tamariki. Our staff are learners too! They work together to challenge their thinking and to improve their practice in order to ensure quality and improved student outcomes for every child. All staff at Maungatūroto Primary are very professional, talented, reflective and caring.

Our staff have spent a great deal of time on the development of our CARE values and REAL vision for student learning. All teaching staff have attended and continue to attend high quality professional development programmes together (a no man left behind approach). The confidence this professional development has inspired amongst the staff, together with the passionate determination and support of our parents, in particular our hard-working PTA fund-raising committee and most supportive Board of Trustees, has created a wonderful place for our children to learn, value and grow together.

We are a school committed to school-wide self review leading to continuous improvement and we invite you to give the school feed back and to share ideas on how the school can improve and also share with us the things we do well.

I feel very privileged to be part of the Maungatūroto Primary School learning community. I am proud of our achievement levels and the learning environment that we provide for our students. We will continue to research and develop innovative teaching and learning programmes that will lead to accelerated learning for all students.

Through our website we will keep you informed of current and future events and showcase the learning and activities in which your children are involved.

If you would like to learn more about our school please feel free to pop in for a visit or contact me via email: principal@maungaturoto.school.nz

Kind regards,

Margie Hutchinson | Principal/Tumuaki
